The story so far

Well 2007 is rapidly drawing to a close and I am constantly reminded how fast this expedition is approaching. With the festive season here, most companies are closed and most of the people I have been dealing with are away.

On the 21st December I received a very encouraging phone call from someone at a large corporate banking firm, who will remain anonymous for the time being. So watch this space because things could get very exciting shortly.

As much a s I have appreciated some time off over Christmas and New Year, I tend to get anxious as the days count down and I am not actively chasing funding and pursuing sponsorships. I have been coping with my frustration by trying to get a lot of physical training done while the “shop” is closed.

I will be updating my daily training schedule on the site shortly. The reasons for this will be twofold. Firstly for people to follow my training and progress, and secondly as a watchdog so that Warren Eva can tell when I get lazy.

As mentioned in other posts, I would really appreciate any questions and topic suggestions to make this as interesting and interactive as possible. All my details are on the “Contact Robby” page.

Merry Christmas

I would like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and a great New Year. Please spare a thought for those who cannot be with loved ones.

As Sheena, my step mom says: “Some can meet but canna eat. Some may eat but canna meet. But we can meet and we can eat, for that we are truely grateful.” Amen.

Radio 702 Interview

702 Talk RadioLast Friday I was interviewed by David Sullivan on 702 Talk Radio. Not only was it great exposure to announce the expedition on national radio, but it was great speaking to David. He is well read on the various expeditions on Everest and we had a great chat on air.

I am pleased to say that several listeners logged on and got hold of me despite the website being under construction, which has led to several blocks being bought and great contacts being established.. In addition to the interview, the expedition was featured in the Weekend Witness newspaper a provincial newspaper for KwaZulu Natal.

It is so encouraging when people get hold of me and send their wishes and encouragement, applauding my efforts. i cannot express my gratitude adequately and would like to thank everyone for their contribution and support so far.

But watch this space, we’re headed for the top of the world and this is just the beginning.

Climb high for those who can’t
